Powered part rotation for repeatable concentricity and runout inspection workflows.
The Universal Punch LGM-10 is the powered member of the Lazer Gage family, designed for applications where motor-driven rotation is preferred over manually rotating the component. Dedicated product literature identifies the LGM-10 for parts from 1/8–1 in (3–25 mm) in diameter and lengths up to 6 in (152 mm).
Current Universal Punch parts documentation lists an LGM-10 Variable Speed Motor Assembly within the company’s 24 VDC / 0–10 rpm variable-speed motorized drive system.
The LG-10 and LGM-10 share the Lazer Gage inspection concept, but their defining difference is rotation. LG is the manual configuration. LGM is the motorized configuration, designed to rotate the part through a powered drive.
Current Universal Punch documentation specifically lists LGM-10 and LGM-20 Variable Speed Motor Assemblies as dedicated configurations. This makes LGM a distinct powered product architecture within the Concentricity Gaging System—not merely a generic accessory description.
The Universal Punch LGM-10 is a motorized Lazer concentricity gage for precision rotational inspection. Dedicated Universal Punch product literature identifies the LGM-10 for 1/8–1 in (3–25 mm) diameter parts up to 6 in (152 mm) long. Current Universal Punch parts documentation lists an LGM-10 variable-speed motor assembly within its 24 VDC, 0–10 rpm motorized drive system.
Universal Punch’s current motorized-drive documentation positions the system for applications where hands-free rotation is useful. Motorization changes how the component is rotated; it does not, by itself, replace the need for correct roller support, contact geometry, indicator selection or calibration.
Reduces the need to continually rotate the component by hand during inspection.
Current documentation identifies a 0–10 rpm variable-speed drive system.
Current motorized-drive documentation identifies directional control within the system offering.
An industrial-grade foot switch is listed in the current motorized-drive documentation.
Universal Punch’s 2025 parts documentation lists: Model LGM-10 Variable Speed Motor Assembly — Includes Motor Plate. The broader motorized-drive section describes a 24 VDC / 0–10 rpm variable-speed system.
Rather than merge old and new specifications into one artificial configuration, this page separates legacy product literature from current motor-system documentation.
The LGM-10 remains part of the Universal Punch Concentricity Gaging System: select the gage model, select the main rollers, then select the indicator(s) and accessories around the actual part.
Universal Punch publishes multiple -10 main-roller and top-contact geometries. Final LGM-10 roller, top-contact and drive compatibility should be confirmed from the component geometry and the current production configuration.
1 — Select LGM-10
Choose the motorized Lazer architecture when powered rotational inspection is required.
2 — Select support geometry
Match rollers and contacts to the surfaces that can actually support the component.
3 — Select the measurement system
Determine indicator type, contact position, resolution, range and calibration requirements.
4 — Confirm the drive package
Confirm voltage, controller, speed, forward/reverse operation, transformer, foot control and automation requirements.
Dedicated LGM-10 product literature supplies the headline size, length, legacy drive and legacy shipping-weight values. Current 2025 parts documentation supplies the variable-speed motor-system information.
The two configurations share the compact Lazer Gage concept. Their defining distinction is how the part is rotated.
Steel-base Lazer Gage configuration for applications where manual part rotation fits the inspection process.
Powered Lazer Gage configuration for applications that benefit from controlled, variable-speed or hands-free part rotation.
The LGM-10’s compact architecture is suited to benchtop inspection environments where powered rotation is preferred. Potential application discussions may include shafts, pins, turned components, precision machined parts, fastener-related components, bearing surfaces, concentric diameters and rotational runout inspection.
The final gage configuration and measurement method must match the engineering drawing and inspection requirement. This page does not treat geometric concentricity and runout as automatically interchangeable requirements.
For the strongest LGM-10 review, send Universal Punch the part drawing, diameter, overall length, usable rotational support surfaces, feature being measured, tolerance, desired indicator or digital readout, calibration requirement, desired rotational speed/control, forward/reverse requirement, foot-switch requirement and available input voltage. Our team can review both the gaging and motorized-drive configuration before quoting.
