Direct Product Definition

A steel-base Lazer Gage on the intermediate -20 platform.

The Universal Punch LG-20 supports a cylindrical component on selected roller-contact surfaces while an adjustable Lazer measurement head is positioned at the required inspection location.

As the component rotates, the configured system can observe dimensional variation at the selected feature. The meaning of the reading depends on the support datum, measurement location, sensor configuration, tolerance and documented inspection method.

LG-20 provides the precision support and measurement architecture. It does not automatically establish the correct datum or prove every GD&T concentricity requirement without an application-specific inspection method.

Application Selection

Is LG-20 right for the application?

Select the model from component capacity, support geometry, measurement method and rotation requirements—not diameter alone.

Choose LG-20

Steel-base -20 architecture

For parts within the 3/8-2 in diameter and 6 in length envelope when the standard steel-base LG architecture and adjustable measurement-head positioning fit the inspection method.

Consider LG-10

Smaller diameter class

For the same steel-base LG family architecture with a smaller nominal diameter range of 1/8-1 in / 3-25 mm.

Consider LGM-20

Dedicated powered rotation

For the same published -20 capacity when the application requires the dedicated motorized LGM counterpart.

Principal LG/LGM distinction: LG-20 is the steel-base LG model. LGM-20 is its motorized counterpart. Motorized equipment visible in family photography must not be presented as standard LG-20 equipment.

Steel Base and Roller Support

Stable support begins with the actual component geometry.

The steel base provides the structural platform for the support and measurement assemblies. The component must rest on suitable cylindrical lands that establish the intended rotational reference.

Review usable journal diameter, support-land width, support spacing, shoulders, flanges, grooves, threads, splines, diameter transitions, component stiffness, unsupported span and proximity to the measured feature.

Being within the LG-20 two-inch capacity does not by itself confirm that a component is suitable. The usable support geometry must be reviewed from the drawing or sample part.

Lazer Measurement Architecture

Position the measurement system around the inspection requirement.

Measurement-head selection and positioning should be based on the feature being inspected, nominal diameter, expected variation, required resolution, working distance, available clearance, surface finish and reflectivity, measurement direction, rotation method and required output.

One photographed sensor, electronic package or cable arrangement should not be assumed to be included with every LG-20.

Configuration language: Measurement-head, electronics and output requirements are configured during application review. Submit the component drawing, tolerance and desired inspection method for selection assistance.
