KK1-20 Triple Indicator Concentricity Gage

Three configurable measurement positions around one supported rotational setup.

The Universal Punch KK1-20 is a triple-indicator concentricity gage for cylindrical components from 3/8–2 in (10–50 mm) in diameter and up to 6 in (152 mm) long.

Its defining architecture combines one Standard Carrier with two independently configurable Side Carriers, providing three indicator positions around the same supported rotating component.

Choose KK1-20 when the component fits the -20 capacity class and the inspection requires three total measurement positions with lateral Side Carrier access for both additional indicators.

Triple-Indicator Architecture

Three measurement positions. One supported rotational setup.

KK1-20 combines one Standard Carrier measurement position with two independently configurable Side Carrier positions.

Measurement Position 1

Standard Carrier

Establishes the primary configurable indicator position around the supported component.

Measurement Position 2

Side Carrier A

Provides the first independent lateral-access measurement position.

Measurement Position 3

Side Carrier B

Provides the second independent lateral-access measurement position that distinguishes KK1 from K1.

KK1-20 should be selected because the inspection requires three accessible measurement positions—not simply because three indicators are desirable.
Standard Carrier

Configure the primary measurement position from the print.

The Standard Carrier establishes the first KK1-20 indicator position. Final configuration should be determined from the actual component drawing, datum structure and inspection objective.

Inspection feature Identify the diameter, journal, face, shoulder or other feature being evaluated.
Datum relationship Define what the first indicator response represents relative to the supported rotational axis.
Probe clearance Account for shoulders, grooves, threads, splines and nearby geometry.
Indicator selection Choose range, resolution, stylus and contact direction from the actual tolerance.
Configuration principle: KK1-20 product photography shows example indicator locations. Final positioning should come from the component drawing and measurement requirement.

Two Side Carriers

Two Side Carriers define the KK1 architecture.

KK1-20 adds two independently configurable Side Carrier positions around the supported component, providing two additional lateral-access measurement locations beyond the Standard Carrier.

Choose KK1-20 when both additional measurement locations require Side Carrier access. Choose KK2-20 when one of those additional positions instead requires Vertical Carrier access.

KK1-20 and KK2-20 share the same -20 size envelope and both provide three measurement positions. The distinguishing factor is the access geometry of the third position.

-20 Roller Selection

Select the support geometry before configuring three indicator positions.

All three KK1-20 indicators reference the same supported rotational setup. Stable support therefore remains fundamental to the complete inspection system.

120-20FP · Full Plain Full plain main roller set for suitable -20 cylindrical support geometry.
120-20HP · Half Plain Half plain support where shoulders or adjacent features require more clearance.
120-20QP · Quarter Plain Quarter plain support for narrower or more constrained cylindrical support lands.
Engineering rule: the correct KK1-20 roller configuration is determined by the actual cylindrical support surfaces on the component—not simply by the gage's maximum 2-inch diameter capacity.

Evaluate support journal diameter, support-land width, shoulders, flanges, grooves, threads, splines, diameter transitions, distance between support lands, unsupported span, component stiffness and all three indicator measurement locations.

Published -20 top roller reference: Universal Punch documentation identifies 170-20, approximately 3/4 × 9/32 in (19 × 7 mm), as the standard -20 top roller. Other published -20 top-contact configurations should be selected from the actual component geometry.
