KK1-10 Triple Indicator Concentricity Gage

Standard Carrier + Two Side Carriers for three measurement positions.

The Universal Punch KK1-10 is a triple-indicator concentricity gage for cylindrical parts in the 1/8–1 in (3–25 mm) diameter class and published part lengths up to 4 in (102 mm). The KK1 architecture combines one Standard Carrier with two Side Carriers, creating three configurable indicator positions around the same supported rotating component.

What Is the KK1-10?

A three-indicator concentricity gage for multi-location rotational inspection.

The KK1-10 is the -10 size member of Universal Punch's KK1 triple-indicator concentricity-gage family. Current Universal Punch selection documentation identifies the architecture as a Triple Indicator Gage / 3–25 mm / Standard Carrier / Two Side Carriers.

Where K1 and K2 provide two indicator positions, KK1 expands the measurement architecture to three. The actual characteristics inspected at those positions depend on the part drawing, support geometry, indicator contact points, carrier positions and inspection method.

The Universal Punch KK1-10 is a triple-indicator concentricity gage for 1/8–1 in (3–25 mm) diameter parts. It combines one Standard Carrier with two Side Carriers, provides three configurable indicator positions around the same supported rotating component, and supports published part lengths up to 4 in (102 mm).

Triple-Indicator Architecture

One Standard Carrier. Two Side Carriers.

The important difference between KK1-10 and the K1/K2 families is not simply an additional dial. KK1 provides an expanded measurement-access architecture with three carrier positions around the same supported workpiece.

Position 1 Standard Carrier

Primary indicator position within the KK1 architecture.

Position 2 Side Carrier

Additional side-access measurement position.

Position 3 Second Side Carrier

Third configurable measurement position using a second side-carrier location.

KK1 = STANDARD + SIDE + SIDE
Architecture distinction: Standard + Side + Vertical belongs to the KK2 family. The KK1 uses two Side Carriers.
Published KK1-10 Data

Technical specifications at a glance.

Universal Punch general-data literature publishes a more precise minimum diameter and minimum part length than the simplified -10 model-selection nomenclature. Both are presented here without silently replacing one with the other.

Nominal Diameter Class 1/8–1 in 3–25 mm model-selection nomenclature
Published Part Length .18–4 in 4.7–102 mm
Shipping Weight 11.5 lb 5.2 kg
Published Diameter Range .12–1 in 3.2–25 mm
Published Gage Length 10.5 in 267 mm
Published Gage Width / Height 4.5 × ~6 in 114 × approximately 152 mm
Published minimum-diameter note: Universal Punch model-selection nomenclature identifies KK1-10 as a 3–25 mm model, while the general-data table publishes the minimum more precisely as .12 in / 3.2 mm. The page uses 1/8–1 in / 3–25 mm as the customer-facing nominal class and preserves the more precise general-data value in the technical specifications.
How the KK1-10 Works

Support the workpiece. Rotate it. Monitor three configured contacts.

01
Support the component on the selected -10 roller geometry.

The roller set should match the usable cylindrical support surfaces and required clearance around the part.

02
Position the Standard Carrier and both Side Carriers.

Each indicator contact is configured around the intended measurement location and available feature access.

03
Rotate the supported component.

The standard Universal Punch system uses the manual timing-belt drive architecture for smooth part rotation.

04
Observe all three configured indicator positions.

The three contacts can be monitored through the rotational inspection setup according to the drawing and inspection plan.

Two indicator positions or three—and from which direction?

K1, K2, KK1 and KK2 separate multi-indicator systems by both indicator count and carrier access.

Configure the Complete KK1-10

Three indicator positions make correct configuration even more important.

Universal Punch defines the Concentricity Gaging System around three primary selections: gage model, main rollers, and indicators/accessories. KK1-10 adds the requirement to correctly position and specify three measurement contacts.

01
Select KK1-10 as the architecture

Use KK1-10 when the -10 part envelope and Standard + two Side Carrier triple-indicator arrangement fit the inspection.

02
Select the main rollers

Support geometry should match usable cylindrical lands, shoulders, grooves, threads and measurement-feature clearance.

03
Configure all three indicator contacts

Confirm probe direction, stylus reach, indicator range and resolution, mounts, side-carrier access, calibration and drive requirements.

KK1-10 Roller Options

The KK1-10 uses the Universal Punch -10 roller family.

Roller selection should be based on the actual cylindrical support surfaces and the clearance required around the three measurement locations.

Full Plain 110-10FP
Half Plain 110-10HP
Quarter Plain 110-10QP
Full Plain Zero 110-10FZ
Half Plain Zero 110-10HZ
Quarter Plain Zero 110-10QZ
Thin Zero Plain 110-10TZ
Special Top Contacts Multiple published -10 options
What rollers are available for the KK1-10? Published -10 roller families include Full Plain, Half Plain, Quarter Plain, Full Zero, Half Zero, Quarter Zero and Thin Zero configurations. Final support geometry should be selected from the actual component and required feature clearance.
Three Indicator Locations

Deliberate contact geometry matters more as measurement count increases.

Universal Punch documentation includes analog and digital indicators, dovetail mounts, swivel supports, extension holders, right-angle attachments and multiple carrier assemblies that can be used to configure measurement access.

Position 1

Standard Carrier Indicator

Specify resolution, range, contact direction, stylus length and feature access around the primary measurement location.

Position 2

First Side Carrier Indicator

Configure the first side-access contact around available clearance and the intended measurement characteristic.

Position 3

Second Side Carrier Indicator

Use the second Side Carrier when the third measurement position is also best approached from side-carrier geometry.

Photography note: the yellow indicators shown in the KK1-10 photography illustrate one configured system. Universal Punch documentation identifies additional analog and digital indicator options; the correct set should be specified from the inspection requirement.
Accuracy, Calibration & Drive

Specify the whole system—not just the number of indicators.

Accuracy classification, indicator resolution, carrier access, calibration documentation and rotation method should be considered together.

Published Accuracy Classes

Universal Punch documentation identifies these gage classifications as calibrated and directly traceable to NIST. Confirm the final KK1-10 accuracy class, indicator resolution and documentation requirements when ordering.

Universal Punch documentation lists a dedicated KK1-10 variable-speed motor assembly and describes the variable-speed drive architecture as 24 VDC with forward/reverse and 0–10 rpm control. Powered rotation can be considered when hands-free operation is useful for observing several indicators.

Where KK1-10 Fits

Built for multi-location rotational inspection.

KK1-10 is worth evaluating when the part fits the -10 envelope, three measurement contacts are useful within the same rotational setup, and both additional measurement positions are best served by Side Carriers.

  • Nominal diameter class fits approximately 1/8–1 in / 3–25 mm.
  • Published maximum part length fits up to 4 in / 102 mm.
  • Three configurable indicator positions are useful.
  • Both secondary measurement positions are appropriate for Side Carrier access.
  • The component has suitable cylindrical support surfaces for the selected roller geometry.

If two measurement positions are enough, evaluate K1-10 or K2-10. If three are required but one secondary location needs Vertical Carrier access, evaluate KK2-10.
