K1-10 Dual Indicator Concentricity Gage

Standard Carrier + Side Carrier measurement architecture.

The Universal Punch K1-10 is a dual-indicator concentricity gage for cylindrical parts from 1/8–1 in (3–25 mm) in diameter and published part lengths up to 4 in (102 mm). The K1 architecture combines a Standard Carrier with a Side Carrier so two indicator positions can be configured around the same supported rotating part.

What Is the K1-10?

A dual-indicator -10 gage built around two measurement positions.

The K1-10 is the small-diameter member of Universal Punch's K1 dual-indicator concentricity-gage family. Universal Punch documentation defines the model as a Dual Indicator Gage / 3–25 mm / Standard Carrier / Side Carrier.

Its value is not simply that it holds two indicators. The K1-10 gives the inspection setup two separate carrier positions around one supported rotating part. The actual characteristics inspected at those positions depend on the component, contact points, roller geometry, indicator access and drawing requirement.

The Universal Punch K1-10 is a dual-indicator concentricity gage for 1/8–1 in (3–25 mm) diameter parts. It combines a Standard Carrier and Side Carrier, supports published part lengths up to 4 in (102 mm), and is designed for precision rotational inspection where two indicator positions are useful in one gaging setup.

Why Dual Indicator?

Two measurement positions can reveal more from one setup.

A single-indicator concentricity gage can be appropriate when one measurement location answers the inspection requirement. The K1-10 is designed for applications where the setup benefits from a second indicator position.

Because K1 combines the Standard Carrier and Side Carrier architectures, both indicator positions can be configured around the same supported component while the part is rotated through the gaging system.

Carrier 1 Standard Carrier

Primary indicator position within the K1 dual-indicator architecture.

Carrier 2 Side Carrier

Secondary measurement access from the side of the part.

Inspection-method note: two indicators do not automatically define what is being measured. Indicator contacts and interpretation should follow the actual drawing, datum scheme and inspection plan.

How the K1-10 Works

Support the part. Rotate the part. Observe two indicator positions.

01
Support the component on the selected roller geometry.

The roller set must match the usable cylindrical support surfaces and required clearance around the part.

02
Set the top-arm yoke and indicator contacts.

The adjustable top-arm assembly and carrier adjustments allow the contacts to be positioned around the application.

03
Rotate the part through the gaging position.

Universal Punch documentation identifies a manual timing-belt pulley system as the standard rotational drive architecture.

04
Observe both indicator positions.

The two carrier locations allow two measurement contacts to be configured around the same supported rotating component.

K1 vs. K2 vs. KK

Choose by measurement access—not diameter alone.

The K and KK families separate two- and three-indicator architectures by carrier arrangement.

Configure the Complete System

The gage model is only the first decision.

Universal Punch defines the Concentricity Gaging System around three primary selections. The usefulness of the K1-10 depends on matching all three to the part.

01
Select the gage model

Choose K1-10 when the -10 size class and Standard + Side Carrier dual-indicator architecture fit the inspection.

02
Select the main rollers

Match the support geometry to available cylindrical lands, shoulders, threads, grooves and required feature clearance.

03
Select indicators & accessories

Confirm indicator resolution, range, stylus access, mounts, stops, calibration requirements and optional drive system.

K1-10 Roller Options

Match roller contact to the component geometry.

Because the K1-10 is a -10 model, it uses the published -10 main roller families. The correct choice depends on the available support surfaces and the feature being inspected.

Full Plain 110-10FP
Half Plain 110-10HP
Quarter Plain 110-10QP
Full Plain Zero 110-10FZ
Half Plain Zero 110-10HZ
Quarter Plain Zero 110-10QZ
Thin Zero Plain 110-10TZ
Special Top Contacts Multiple published -10 options
Selection guidance: choose rollers from the actual part geometry. Available cylindrical lands, shoulder clearance, thread location and the measurement feature can all change the appropriate support arrangement.

Where K1-10 Fits

Best suited to small-part inspections that benefit from two indicator positions.

The K1-10 is worth evaluating when the part fits the -10 size class and the inspection arrangement benefits from a second measurement position accessed from the side.

  • Part diameter fits 1/8–1 in / 3–25 mm.
  • Published part length fits up to 4 in / 102 mm.
  • Two indicator positions are useful in one rotational setup.
  • Side-carrier access is appropriate for the second measurement position.
  • The part has suitable support surfaces for the selected roller geometry.
