E-40
Concentricity Gage
The Universal Punch E-40 is the large-capacity E-Series Eccentric Roller Checker Gage. It combines the -40 working envelope with Universal Punch's Vertical Roller Carrier for controlled rotational inspection of cylindrical parts.
Built for large-diameter eccentric roller inspection.
The Universal Punch E-40 is an Eccentric Roller Checker Concentricity Gage. Published E-40 general data covers part diameters from 3/4–4 in (20–102 mm) and part lengths up to 8 in (203 mm).
The defining distinction is the Vertical Roller Carrier. Universal Punch uses the E-Series designation for eccentric roller checking, while the -40 suffix identifies the large-capacity class. Customers should therefore select the E-40 from both the workpiece envelope and the measurement architecture—not from diameter alone.
Review the E-40 when the part falls in the -40 capacity class and the inspection objective calls for the E-Series Vertical Roller Carrier / eccentric roller-checking arrangement. Universal Punch can then match the rollers, indicator, stops, support geometry, and optional drive system to the actual print.
See the E-Series measurement architecture clearly.
These views show the complete E-40 platform, the Vertical Roller Carrier and indicator relationship, and the roller/support area. The product photography stays focused on the actual gage rather than adding speculative diagrams or callouts.

The E-Series carrier architecture in the large -40 envelope.
Universal Punch model names communicate two separate decisions: the family identifies the measurement architecture, while the suffix identifies capacity. For this model, E-Series = Eccentric Roller Checker and -40 = large 20–102 mm diameter class.
The E-Series is the Universal Punch family documented for eccentric roller checker applications.
The carrier architecture is the defining technical distinction of the E-Series.
Published for 3/4–4 in diameter parts and lengths up to 8 in / 203 mm.
The E-40 can be reviewed with the documented variable-speed motorized drive option.
E-40 specifications and physical envelope.
These values come from Universal Punch Concentricity Gaging System documentation and the 2025 parts list. Use the published envelope as a starting point; the actual support geometry, roller selection, indicator arrangement, and calibration requirement should be confirmed from the part.
Model. Rollers. Indicator & accessories.
Universal Punch documents the Concentricity Gaging System as three primary selections. Keeping those decisions separate makes the E-40 easier to configure around the actual part rather than treating it as one fixed setup.
The E-40 establishes the E-Series eccentric roller-checker architecture and the large -40 working envelope.
Published -40 main roller sets include Full Plain, Half Plain, and Quarter Plain styles: 140-40FP, 140-40HP, and 140-40QP.
Indicator type, carrier position, stop arrangement, fine adjustment, and other accessories are matched to the measurement location and inspection workflow.
The 2025 parts list documents multiple -40 top-roller sizes from 3/4 × 1/2 in through 1-1/4 × 3/4 in. The 1 × 5/16 in (25 × 8 mm) top roller is identified as standard.
Final roller and contact geometry should be selected from the available support lands, part diameter, surface condition, and measurement objective—not from model number alone.
The E-40 has a documented variable-speed motor option.
Universal Punch's 2025 parts documentation specifically identifies an E-40 Variable Speed Motor Assembly with a 19 in / 482 mm base plate. The documented drive-system upgrade uses a 24 VDC variable-speed system with a published 0–10 rpm range and forward/reverse control.
Powered rotation is especially useful when hands-free rotation, repeat inspection, controlled speed, or a more consistent inspection rhythm is desirable. The final motor, transformer, controls, and base configuration should be confirmed when the E-40 is specified.
Choose the architecture and capacity together.
The E-40 and B-40 occupy the same large -40 envelope but use different carrier architectures. The E-20 uses the same E-Series eccentric roller-checker architecture as the E-40 in a smaller 10–50 mm working range.
Send us your print. We'll help configure the E-40.
Every E-40 application starts with the actual part. Send Universal Punch the drawing and inspection requirement and our team can review the correct rollers, carrier position, indicator, stops, support arrangement, accuracy requirement, and optional powered rotation for the application.
