The B-10 is the extended member of Universal Punch's small-diameter concentricity gage class. It supports the same published 1/8 in to 1 in diameter range as the A-10 while increasing maximum published part length from 3 in to 4 in.

The platform uses precision rollers, an adjustable yoke, an indicator carrier, and a timing-belt drive to support repeatable rotational inspection. Roller choice, support geometry, indicator position, and the characteristic being evaluated should be matched to the actual part.

Measurement capability

What the B-10 can help evaluate.

The B-10 is presented as a variable-reading inspection platform for rotational variation rather than a simple pass/fail fixture.

01

Point Runout

Evaluate rotational variation at a drill point, formed point, or machined tip.

02

Head Concentricity

Inspect the relationship between a headed feature and the supported part centerline.

03

Shank Straightness

Identify bowed, bent, or unstable cylindrical parts during rotation.

04

Wobble

Observe and quantify rotational movement that is difficult to judge visually.

05

Total Indicated Runout

Record maximum and minimum indicator movement across a full rotation.

06

Process Consistency

Compare parts, lots, suppliers, machine setups, and tooling conditions with repeatable readings.

How it works

Support. Position. Rotate. Read.

The B-10 combines a roller support system, adjustable top yoke, movable indicator carrier, and timing-belt rotation.

Load the partPlace the part on the selected roller configuration.
Set the yokeAdjust the upper support to stabilize the part for inspection.
Position the indicatorMove the carrier to the measurement location and zero the indicator.
Rotate and recordRotate the part and observe the indicator movement across the inspection cycle.

Standard configuration

B-10

<4 µm

Current page specification for the standard B-10 configuration.

Precision Gold

B-10P Precision Gold

<2 µm

Current page specification for the higher-precision B-10P configuration.

Published values above are carried forward from the current B-10 page. For final specification, ask Universal Punch engineering to confirm the exact model, indicator, roller configuration, setup, and measurement capability.

Roller configurations

Configure the support around the part.

Roller geometry changes how the part is supported and how much clearance is available near the feature being inspected.

Full Plain Rollers
General cylindrical support

Full Plain Rollers

Full-width plain support for uninterrupted outside diameters and general cylindrical inspection.

Half Plain Rollers
Shoulder clearance

Half Plain Rollers

Reduced contact width for parts that need clearance near shoulders, steps, or adjacent features.

Quarter Plain Rollers
Tight access

Quarter Plain Rollers

Narrower contact geometry for localized support or limited access near the inspection feature.

Zero Style Rollers
Small-diameter support

Zero Style Rollers

Zero Style geometry for very small diameters or restricted support conditions. Confirm the correct setup with engineering.

Thin Zero Rollers
Limited-clearance support

Thin Zero Rollers

Thin Zero Style geometry for short support areas or close-to-feature inspection setups.

Optional accessories

Build a more repeatable inspection station.

The current B-10 page includes positioning and powered-rotation accessories that can help improve repeatability and operator consistency.

Top Stop Assembly

Top Stop Assembly

Supports repeatable part positioning from the top side of the inspection setup.

Back Stop Assembly

Back Stop Assembly

Helps locate similar parts consistently for repeat inspection.

Variable-Speed Motorized Drive

Variable-Speed Motorized Drive

Adds controlled powered rotation for repeatable inspection workflows.

Understanding the reading

Turn rotation into measurable indicator movement.

The current page illustrates Total Indicated Runout as the difference between the maximum and minimum indicator readings during rotation.

Engineering FAQ

Common B-10 questions.

Use these answers as a starting point. Final selection should be based on the actual part and inspection requirement.

What size parts can the B-10 inspect?
The published B-10 range is 1/8 in to 1 in (3 mm to 25 mm) in part diameter with part lengths up to 4 in (102 mm).
What is the main difference between the A-10 and B-10?
The A-10 and B-10 share the same published 1/8 in to 1 in diameter class. The A-10 supports parts up to 3 in long, while the B-10 extends part length capacity to 4 in.
How small can the B-10 inspect with Zero Style Rollers?
The current B-10 specification lists 3/32 in capacity when configured with Zero Style Rollers. Send the part print or sample details so Universal Punch can confirm the proper roller configuration.
How does the B-10 rotate the part?
The published B-10 configuration uses a manual timing-belt drive. A motorized drive option is also shown among the current B-10 accessories.
What is the B-10P Precision Gold option?
The current B-10 page presents B-10P Precision Gold as the higher-precision configuration. For tolerance-critical work, have Universal Punch engineering confirm the exact configuration and measurement capability against the application.
Can Universal Punch help choose the correct roller setup?
Yes. Send the part print, diameter, length, support surface, feature being checked, and inspection requirement so engineering can help determine the appropriate roller and indicator setup.
Are replacement parts available for the B-10?
The B-10 assembly reference identifies replaceable rollers, timing belts, shafts, carrier components, yoke components, drive parts, and support hardware.
